Photo-a-day #365: December 31, 2011 - New Year's Eve Sledding

Photo-a-day #365: December 31, 2011 - New Year's Eve Sledding

Wow, 365 days, 365 pictures! I wasn't sure I would make it, but I did. This shot ends the year how I started it: just doing some tipsy, midnight (11:54PM actually) sledding into the new year in Tomahawk. If you turn around, you'd see this right behind you.

This shot is quite a bit more complicated than the one taken on January 1st... and was a lot darker than it shows. Thanks to David and Lisa, this 25-second exposure is illuminated because they ran down the hill with two 430EX flashes, firing away towards our sledding path. With almost no light, going down while snowing heavily is pretty exciting--and those trees can sneak up on you as well. This picture is looking to the future, while the January 1 was looking into the past. A somewhat ironic way of looking at the start and completion of the year.

Though I'm not continuing the project into 2012, I may consider doing it in future years. Thanks for all the support and positive messages and comments on this project. It was more challenging than I thought it would be, but also more rewarding.
