Trying to start off the new year right, I finally cleaned my work office. The oldest, most meaningless item was from a meeting in April 2010, which must be the last time I cleaned. Purging is good.
Most offices have the usual computer, phone, calculator, stapler, stuff like that. But the real necessities are what I make sure I didn't dismiss:
- nerf rockets
- various bouncy balls
- Beer Stein (unfortunately, empty)
- USB Rocket launcher (obscured by the Beer Stein)
- a globe
- 2 digital photo frames
- display of 10 different types of modems
- some awards
- books from college and grad school
- a fake plant
- a California Cow (?)
- a lawn gnome (hiding in the plant)
- A reclining chair for 'reading'
- golf putter with targets (floor breaks to the right)
- a skateboard (don't even know where that came from---someone left it in my office because they knew I skated)
What all this means is anyone's guess, but your office should reflect who you are, and apparently I like weapons. Afterall, you spend over 2,000 hours a year there, so make it your home.
